Marc Deneyer est né à Bruxelles et vit aujourd’hui en France dans la Vienne. Il vient tardivement à la photographie après quelques années passées comme musicien et dessinateur de presse.
Il se tourne rapidement vers le paysage et la nature qui vont représenter l'essentiel de ses centres d'intérêt.
Photographe reconnu, il rapporte de ses voyages (du Groenland à la Toscane, du Maroc au Japon...) des images et des textes qui racontent sa recherche d’une pure lumière et de lieux immémoriaux. Depuis 1984, il expose un peu partout en Europe et au delà (The Photographers’ Gallery à Londres, Institut Français de Naples, Galerie du Château d’Eau à Toulouse, Galerie Camera Obscura à Paris, Institut français de Tokyo, Sapporo...). En 1985, il publie Paysages Éd. F. R. A. C Poitou-Charentes/La Différence. En 1986 il participe à la mission photographique de la D.A.T.A.R puis de 1987 à 1990 à la mission photographique Les Quatre Saisons du Territoire qui aboutit à plusieurs publications sous le même titre aux éd. de l’Est.
En 2000, il est invité en Résidence à la Villa Kujoyama, Kyoto, Japon (Villa Medicis hors les murs). Il publie Ilulissat en 2001 puis Kujoyama en 2005 dans la collection Textes et Photographies aux éditions Le temps qu’il fait.
Born in Brussels in 1945, Marc Deneyer now lives in France. He came to photography relatively late, after a number of years as a musician, illustrator and political cartoonist.
He soon turned to the landscape and nature in general, wich have come to represent his main center of interest. From his far-ranging travels (from Greenland an Japan to Tuscany and Morocco), this respected photographer has brought back images and texts recounting his search for pure light and timeless sites.
Since 1984, Deneyer has exhibited throughout Europe and beyond (Photographer's Gallery in London, French Institute in Napoli, Galerie du Château d'Eau in Toulouse, Galerie Camera Obscura in Paris, French Institutes in Tokyo and Sapporo, etc...) In 1985 he published a book of landscape photos, Paysages (Éditions FRac Poitou-Charentes/La Différence). The following year he participated in France's DATAR photography mission, and from 1987 to 1990, a mission devoted to Les Quatre Saisons du Territoire (The Four Seasons of the land), wich resulted in several publications.
Subsequent books include Ilulissat : Journal de voyage (2001) and Kujoyama : Un Japon sans été (2005) in the "Textes & Photographies" series of Éditions Le temps qu'il fait.
